Shell has announced a £2 billion investment in a carbon capture and storage hub in the North Sea, marking one of the largest commitments to CCS technology in the UK. The project, based in Teesside, will capture up to 10 million tonnes of CO2 per year from industrial sources across the north of England.
The announcement follows the government's decision to fast-track planning approvals for carbon capture infrastructure.
